If you've ever stood in front of a cool rock formation, you've likely "seen" things--faces, animals, interesting shapes. There's a name for that - simulacrum - and on the Côte de Granit Rose on the north coast of Brittany, you can spend days looking at shapes in the rocks.
Brittany Formations was inspired by my visit to Brittany. My paintings of the Côte de Granit Rose are also influenced by the work of surrealist painter Yves Tanguy who included elements of this wonderful coastline in his paintings.
